Leilani is doing well. Better than last night, that is for sure. There were a couple times that she gave me and Matthew a fright. She couldn’t keep anything down for a while. She also drooled all night long. Luckily the nurses gave us a couple water proof pillow cases. The hospital issued made-out-of-paper kind. I slept by her side, on the floor. Matthew slept in our room. Lani woke up a few times because she was drooling and couldn’t swallow. Her temp started out normal and then shot up to 99 pretty quickly. She still seems hot today, but her temp isn’t anything to worry about.

She really hasn’t eaten anything. Tried some oatmeal this morning but couldn’t finish it. Then later for lunch had some jello, but ate only a few bites. I’m trying to keep her hydrated. I tell her that I know it hurts to swallow, but if she doesn’t eat or drink she’ll have to get another needle in her arm at the hospital. The doctor said as long as she is peeing she is ok. I bet she’ll be 40 lbs by the end of the week. She started out at 43.

Nothing much else to report. Matthew did go grocery shopping. I wrote a long list this time, since I’ve switched over to South Beach. Its almost exactly like Atkins, but after Phase 1 is over, I’ll be able to add fruit, other than berries, to my diet. Thats all I really wanted anyway. I definitely won’t go back to eating corn or potatoes. Once in a while, maybe. Its not something I’ll do every day though. So far, so good.
