My contractions went from bad to worse and I called my midwife. She insisted I go to OB triage right away and so I did. Matthew was angry, because he was at work and wasn’t finished. I felt really awful about doing that to him, but I had no choice. I made the kids get ready, dressed myself a little nicer and we waited in the car for him to get home. At the hospital they hooked me up to the fetal monitor. The baby’s heart rate was perfect. Every time I had a contraction I had to push a little button that recorded it on the printout paper. My midwife arrived at the hospital a little later and checked my cervix which was extremely painful. My cervix is firm and closed, which is quite a relief. I am not dilating either. She doesn’t understand why I’m contracting and why its just in one spot. Tomorrow I have an appointment to see her at the birth center and then get an ultrasound.
We arrived at the hospital about 7:30 and didn’t get home until 11:15. The poor kids were so tired they fell asleep the second their heads hit the pillow. They were so well behaved. And Matthew had to return to work after he tucked them in. I feel awful. Almost like it was all for nothing, but I’m still having the contractions, if that’s what they are. I’m in pain, but its moderate pain and I hope to god they can figure out what it is tomorrow. I can’t imagine feeling this way for the rest of the pregnancy.
